USOh No! Audition Information

USOh No! Audition InformationThe U.S.“Oh No!” Christmas Show CAST Breakdown

Setting:
Set on Christmas Eve, 1944, Harry Baskin and His Cavalcade of Talent are a USO show set to perform for a bunch of GI’s in Piedmont, PA just before they are shipped out to fight in Europe. A “once in a lifetime” blizzard strands half the cast, including show headliner, Estelle St. Cloud out on the turnpike somewhere leaving Harry, his right hand “man”, Velma and a few Cavalcade singers with the task of putting on the show. Velma’s ingenuity, a willing group of local talent and a surprise “Star” create a not to be missed performance that will warm your heart and keep your toes tapping!

Velma Williams: The Heart and soul behind Harry Baskin’s Cavalcade of Talent. Strong lead actress/singer

Harry Baskin: The force behind Harry Baskin’s Cavalcade of Talent. Harry is the heart and soul of the show – and he seems to lack both. Rough, gruff, sarcastic – this is a great character role. Must be able to sing and work with a puppet.

Walter Russell: Long time Cavalcade singer with a fondness for “the bottle” and dreams of fame. Strong comedic actor/singer/dancer

Sally Adams: Cavalcade Singer – pretty but the epitome of a “dumb blonde”. Strong comedic actress/singer, moderate dance

Betty Pryor: Cavalcade singer: 81/2 months pregnant and still going strong. Strong Comedic Actress/singer

Phil Pryor: Betty’s long suffering husband. Also Cavalcade singer. Strong comedic singer/actor

Joe Hall: The Cavalcades’ own Casanova – never met a woman who didn’t end up slapping his face. Strong comedic singer/actor

Mike Broderick: Cavalcade singer, the guy next door who everyone relies on: Comedic actor/singer

Mary Nelson: Cleaning woman who must transform the performance hall into a proper stage for the USO troupe. Ends up the reluctant hero. Strong Actress/ MUST HAVE SHOW STOPPING VOICE!

Johnny Monroe: Local boy, one of the Cool Cats who, who is home on army leave: Strong Singer/dancer/actor

Ruth Nelson: Johnny’s “best girl”. Strong Singer/actress

COOL CATS: Group of 6 – 8 swing dancers: Must be experienced with Swing

Piedmont Girls: 4 “local” women who can sing (in harmony) that find themselves in the show: Strong singers/comedic actresses
