Classes We Offer / Schedules

CAT offers a wide variety of Theater Arts classes covering all aspects of singing, dancing, and acting. Below is a sampling of what you might find at any given session of classes. Core Classes:

• CAT Cubs (Ages 6-7):
  10 weeks of non-stop theater fun. From dancing, acting, puppets, singing, this class touches on all kinds of theater disciplines. Lots of energy, lots of fun!
• Acting 101 (Ages 8-18):
  A fun beginning acting class that teaches the basics. You'll learn to express emotion through body language, facial expression and tone of voice using theater games and simple scene preparation. You'll also learn basic theater terminology and acting fundamentals.
• Sing Out (Ages 8-18):
  Come and learn to sing and unlock your star potential. Between the bars of the music you'll discover the fun of sharing your talents with an audience.
• Smooth Moves (Ages 8-18):
  A beginning dance class that takes you on stage and gets your feet movin'. Learn basic theater dance technique such as tap, jazz and pop which will be incorporated into a fabulous routine for the showcase.

Specialty Classes:

• You Look Mah-velous (age varies):
  Learn the exciting techniques of theater make-up. From Animal faces to glamour, monsters to old people, this class will give you a fresh face every week and the skills to do it yourself! (Class limited to 10 students)
• Advanced Dance Class (ages 8-11 and 12-18):  Prerequisite: Advanced dance skills. Learn the techniques of dancing to choreography in musical theater.
• Advanced Singing Class (ages 8-11 and 12-18):  Prerequisite:  Advanced singing skills.  Learn different singing techniques used in musical theater.
• Advanced Acting Class (ages 8-11 and 12-18):  Prerequisite:  Advanced acting skills.  Practice scenes from famous Broadway plays and learn to build your character.
• A Picture Is Worth A 1,000 Words (age varies):
  Basic drawing taught by a professional artist to draw what you see: We will focus on perspective, shading and the ability to give your picture dimension.
• Summer Tour Group:
  Auditioned tour group usually during the Summer.
• Stunts and Combat (age varies):
  This is a knock out class!  Learn the various methods of stage fighting (slaps, slugs, kicks, sword fights). Also, rolls, falls, tumbles and reactions will be offered.

Summer Camp:

Ages 8-18: Teams divided by age participate in classes in singing, acting and dancing in the morning. Team games and competition in the afternoon. A free show on Friday night for friends and family. Currently two locations: Riverside and Corona.
